Description: Students will make a slipcase and a traycase for books they have brought with them to the workshop. The books should be no larger than 6” x 9” x 1.5” Students will learn to take direct measurements from the books to develop a correct formula for construction of the box. Students may also make a traycase setting the dimensions for storage of a set of small prints. The boxes will be fabricated from .098 Davey Board and Arrestox cloth supplied by the instructor.

Students should bring to the class:

  • ruler
  • straight edge
  • scalpel or Olfa knife
  • cutting mat
  • small metal square
  • scissors
  • dividers if you have them
  • pencil
  • bone folder and/or teflon folder
  • ½” flat glue brush – small
  • 1” round brush glue brush – large
  • decorative papers, bookcloth – optional for more personalized covering material
