Description: Expand your skills by learning to marble your own papers and fabric for bookmaking, card making and more! Marbling is the 17th Century technique of floating paint on a thickened water surface to create beautiful historic designs. These intricate patterns were often found on the end pages of old books. Non pareil, feather, stone, are just a few of the designs which you will learn and practice on paper before creating a large scale patterns on cotton and silk! The papers and fabric can be incorporated into bookmaking as accents, end papers, or book cloth. Students will be sent home with setting and care directions for the finished pieces.
Students should wear old paint clothes, bring a smock, and wear rubber soled shoes. Bring an old towel or two to keep hands clean and dry. Bring a lunch or be prepared to go out.
